Community Yoga New London was created to offer accessible, inclusive yoga in a supportive community space. These classes center people who may not always feel represented in traditional yoga spaces and are designed with options for all bodies and abilities.
Our mission is to make yoga more accessible and inclusive for Black and Brown community members, people in bigger bodies, beginners, and anyone who has ever felt like yoga spaces were not created with them in mind. We believe that every person deserves the opportunity to experience the benefits of yoga in a space where they feel welcomed, supported, and celebrated.
The Community Yoga New London initiative was founded by Brenda De Los Santos, a Puerto Rican yoga teacher, professional photographer, and lifelong New London resident.
After practicing yoga on and off for 15 years, Brenda completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training in Bali, Indonesia in February 2026. Throughout her own yoga journey, she often found herself as the only person who looked like her in the spaces where she practiced. While yoga offered healing, strength, and connection, those spaces did not always feel welcoming or representative of the diverse community she calls home.
Community Yoga New London was created to help change that.
Rooted in community, accessibility, and belonging, our classes offer options for different bodies, abilities, and experience levels, including both mat and chair-based practices.
As we honor yoga's roots and traditions, we also honor the stories, cultures, and communities that shape who we are. Community Yoga New London is built on the belief that yoga is for every body.
